In the Light of Memory is an amazing, photo-realistic, 360 degree painting of the view from the top of the WTC south tower by artist Christopher Evans.

Evans says, "In painting In the Light of Memory, I felt impelled by a desire to see, once again, the whole untouched panorama of New York. To recapture and hold on to something beautiful which could not be torn down and destroyed; to work as an artist creatively in defiance of the violence and destruction I'd witnessed on September 11. Starting with a sequence of photographs he'd taken while walking around the observation floor of the South Tower, and adding to them pictures from magazines and newspapers, satellite images downloaded off the World Wide Web, postcards, and street maps of New York, he began to assemble a collage of view fragments.

Here, for example, is his detail of Wall Street as viewed from South WTC (keep in mind the projection from the original spherical relief).
