What Success Looks Like...

The End of History afoot in China -

China's ruling Communist party is pushing to extend its reach into the fast-growing entrepreneurial sector, aiming to establish a presence in medium-sized local private companies within five years.

..."The presence of the party in [the] private sector is so weak at present [in Shanghai] that only 3,000, or 1.1 per cent, of the 280,000 private companies have set up party committees," he said.

...party organisation has mostly been a spectator during the rapid growth of the private sector in the past five years, leaving it sidelined by the most dynamic new force in China.

...Mr Zhang said the party's priority was to sign up managers rather than ordinary workers.

..."As long as someone is talented enough, we invite them to join, but it's true our preference now is mid-level managers," he said.

The party's looking for entrepreneurs?   Management rather than Labor?   Marx / Lenin / Mao would be rolling in their graves!

On the downside, they're making a big turn towards crony-capitalism but on the plus side, it's millions of individual victories like this that reduce the likelihood of outright war between our nations.   As Clausewitz famously note - War is politics by other means.   And the goal of politics is bending wills to achieve congruence.   At least as far as the power of private enterprise is concerned, the Chinese are bending mightily.
