What Success Looks Like -- II

Victor Davis Hanson, at it again.   While it's too soon to say that we're at "the beginning of the end" - we are starting to see the cracks in the dike ;  this snippet was particularly interesting -

...When terrorists are rounded up now in Spain or the United States or deported to Britain, they deny rather than brag of their erstwhile Afghan training, and plead that they are either innocent or were misled. None throw down the gauntlet and bore us with the old long harangues — a la Richard Reed — about the imminent death of the West.

What a profound change in these losers' story!  Once there were scathing, putrid diatribes and chest-beating about their superiority to the West.   Now we are beginning to see them employ and even throw themselves upon the Western politics of self doubt and denial of responsibility.  We so quickly recognize these instruments of the "politics of therapy" in their testimony -- "peer pressure", "my moment of weakness", "circumstances rather than principals led me to do that" tossed up as reasons for their alignment with Al Qaeda.

UPDATE - BTW, I forgot to mention that VDH will be speaking here in the Bay Area on Saturday, Mar 27 at the San Jose Barnes& Noble  (3600 Stevens Creek Blvd) @ 4pm.

He'll be doing a book reading & book signing for Mexifornia (reviewed on my blog here).    I'll be there.
