The Battle of the Sexes

This data comes from the excellent Econlog - A Survey of Male vs. Female knowledge of basic Economics -

Grade Men Women
A 27% 6%
B 23% 10%
C 26% 23%
D 9% 18%
F 15% 42%
Average Grade 2.38 1.18

This could be subtitled "why I have such a hard time finding a compatible date."

For better or for worse, it's pretty dang hard for me to do almost anything without seeing & teasing apart the underlying economic structures that make it so.  A gorgeous building in downtown San Francisco is as much about the form of it's architecture as the fantastically complex local economics that brings together that many premium rent payers with so much premium material.  And let's not even get into recognizing the way the technology of high tensile steel framing revolutionized downtown skylines.

Consequently, for many folks like myself, communicating about most things in life often boils down to communicating an underlying economics-derived model either explicitly or implicitly.  Now, I'll be generous and assume that "A" and "B" econ scorers should be able to fruitfully engage in this sort of conversation...  thus leaving me with a total of 16% of the female population as the first cut in my dating pool.
