I know these 2 stories aren't exactly causally related but... I just HAD to dig this up:
McNealy in August 97:
We had 12.9 GB of PowerPoint slides on our network. And I thought, "What a huge waste of corporate productivity." So we banned it. And we've had three unbelievable record-breaking fiscal quarters since we banned PowerPoint. Now, I would argue that every company in the world, if it would just ban PowerPoint, would see their earnings skyrocket. Employees would stand around going, "What do I do? Guess I've got to go to work."
McNealy today:
Sun Microsystems Inc. (SUNW) shares dropped about 15 percent Tuesday after a financial warning sparked concern the struggling computer maker is being marginalized by lower cost competitors.
Sun said Monday after the market closed that it would report a wider-than-expected loss for the fiscal first quarter ending this month.
Time to bring back the PowerPoint?
