(via Right-Thinking) As I've said before, I think it's dumb to blame or credit a particular administration for short run economic / employment statistics. To do otherwise is to dangerously attribute magical powers to the executive branch which simply don't exist. Bush has been pretty bad about this - no question - but I cringe at the recognition that Kerry is simply worse - How friggin' asinine. As Noam Schleiber put it, listening to Kerry provide specific stats like this leaves voters with "the impression that George W. Bush spends his waking hours personally scrolling through corporate payrolls looking for vulnerable people to throw out of work." Of course, that's precisely his intent - he wants voters to think that Bush has it in his power to create 433,000 jobs in Pennsylvania but has simply chosen not to... or is perhaps creating them in Texas instead... or worse, rolling up those salaries and paying his cronies. ![]() |
